The Reading Kaboodle Story

Designer Boren Lon was inspired to create the Reading Kaboodle™ to encourage her sons to read and enjoy reading. Growing up as a Cambodian refugee in Maine and raised by a mother who only knew Khmer, Boren struggled to speak and read English. Although she initially struggled, Boren soon realized how empowering and exciting reading could be. Boren wanted to instill this sentiment in her children.

Reading is a life skill, and offers us each the opportunity to broaden our knowledge and explore our imagination. Many children today, regardless of family background, struggle with reading. Our goal with the Reading Kaboodle™ is not just to encourage children to read, but to make reading enjoyable by providing them with their own fun space for comfort and discovery. At BODEMI™, we find inspiration in the everyday imaginations and hopes of children. We hope that you will too!
